Jesse Mahieu becomes the new coach of Amsterdam
Jesse Mahieu will be the new coach of the Amsterdam women's team. The 46-year-old former Dutch international will succeed Teun de Nooijer after this season, who announced his departure from the club earlier this week.
Mahieu is currently in charge of the men of Pinoké, where he is in his ninth and final season as head coach. Under Mahieu's leadership, the Steekneuzen grew from a mediocre team to a top team, winning the national title for the first time in 2023 and capturing the EHL a year later.
Mahieu, who is also coach of the Dutch U21 team, starts his first job as coach of a women's team at Amsterdam. He already knows the club like the back of his hand. At the beginning of this millennium, the Brabant born was captain of Amsterdam's first men's team and won several national and international top prizes.
To a higher level
'With his knowledge, experience and the bond he already has with the club, we are confident that he can take Ladies 1 to a higher level,' says Dennis Dijkstra on behalf of Amsterdam's top hockey board in a press release.
