Bloemendaal reach play-offs, Oranje-Rood gets spot in waiting room
Bloemendaal's men have secured participation in the play-offs after a 2-1 win over Oranje-Rood, which depends on the competition in the fight for those play-offs. In Bilthoven, SCHC was 3-2 too strong for Klein Zwitserland after trailing 2-0.
Bloemendaal - Oranje-Rood 2-1
That Bloemendaal is a difficult hurdle to take for Oranje-Rood was already proven by the numbers. Only once in the last fifteen meetings did the Eindhoven side leave the field with three points. This time, Oranje-Rood once again returned home empty-handed. Bloemendaal was too strong 2-1.
The winning goal came off the stick of Dennis Warmerdam, who announced his retirement earlier this week. With his goal he assured his team of a ticket for the play-offs. In the battle for the play-offs, Oranje-Rood will have to wait and hope for a slip-up by the competition.
SCHC - Klein Zwitserland 3-2
A goal by Conor Empey just before time gave SCHC victory after all in a match in which Klein Zwitserland seemed to be on a roll for a long time. Through penalty corners by Chad Futcher and Aki Käppeler, the Hague team had taken a 2-0 lead. But in the fourth quarter, SCHC struck.
Six minutes before time, Chip Visscher scored the tying goal from a penalty corner. Just two minutes later, Max Sweering made the equaliser, again from a corner. The comeback was completed by Empey, who fired in the 3-2 in the closing stages.
For SCHC, it marked the first home win in four matches. Klein Zwitserland, on the other hand, suffered their third consecutive away defeat.
