Oranje-Rood H1
Laren H1
The men of Oranje-Rood crowned their strong season on Sunday with a new club record. The unbeaten league leaders recorded their sixth win in a row against Laren, a unique achievement for the Eindhoven outfit.
Since the merger club's first season (2016-2017), Oranje-Rood had not previously managed to win more than five league games in a row. Under current coach Ageeth Boomgaardt, the team managed to do so now. The Eindhoven players beat Schaerweijde (1-5), Hurley (6-1), Kampong (2-4), Den Bosch (1-2), HDM (5-2) and Laren (5-2) in succession.
Moreover, after 14 match rounds, Oranje-Rood is still unbeaten. That too is a unique achievement for the club, as in the nine previous seasons the team suffered at least one defeat in each of its first fourteen matches.
Another striking thing about Boomgaardt's Oranje-Rood is their scoring ability. After fourteen games, the counter already stands at fifty goals - more than in any other season of the club after the same number of match rounds.
Goal scoring record beckons
It will have to be strange if Oranje-Rood does not want to set a new goal record in the regular league this season. The current club record dates from the 2017-2018 season, when the team reached 69 goals after 22 games. Oranje-Rood still has eight games ahead to improve that record, starting this Sunday with the top match in and against Amsterdam.
