Hoofdklasse Women on brink of 20,000th goal
Playing round ten in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women will have a special touch next weekend. The women's league will then reach the 20,000-goal mark since its inception in the 1981-1982 season.
Almost halfway through the 44th season in Tulp Hoofdklasse Women's history, the goal counter currently stands at 19,991, in 5,700 games. And so only nine more goals are needed to reach a fine milestone.
There is a chance that that anniversary goal will already fall on Saturday in the matches Kampong-Hurley or Huizen-Den Bosch. And if not, the special goal will undoubtedly be scored during one of the four matches scheduled on Sunday: Oranje-Rood - HGC, Pinoké-Amsterdam, Tilburg-HDM or SCHC-Rotterdam.
Amsterdam scored the most goals
Of all clubs in premier league history, Amsterdam (2,839 goals) scored the most often, followed by Den Bosch (2,388), Rotterdam (1,890), Kampong (1,681) and HGC (1,495). Of all the clubs, Amsterdam also played the most games: 950.
Maartje Paumen unmatched
Maartje Paumen is the Hoofdklasse Women's all-time top scorer with 368 goals, followed by Kim Lammers (319) and Lisanne Lejeune (265). Of all still active players in the Hoofdklasse, Den Bosch attacker Frédérique Matla has scored the most goals (178).

Top season 2003-2004
Of all the seasons in premier league history, 2003-2004 was the most goal-rich with 571 goals in 132 games. That amounts to an average of 4.33 goals per matches. In that season, Den Bosch was the first (and last) team ever to pass the magic limit of 100 goals in one season: the Brabanders scored 103 in 22 games (4.68 average).
First goal scorer unknown
Who scored the very first goal in Hoofdklasse Women's history is unfortunately impossible to say. In the debut season 1981-1982, no minutes were recorded in which the goals were scored. Thus, it is unfortunately impossible to trace who got the scoop on the first goal. What we do know is that two players scored three goals immediately after the first round of play: Sophie von Weiler on behalf of Hilversum and Henriet Lubbers for Upward.
