Hurley relegated, Amsterdam to play-offs

Hurley's men have been relegated to the Promotieklasse. The last placed team of the Tulp Hoofdklasse played a 2-2 draw against Laren on the last round on Saturday. That was not enough to avoid direct relegation. Amsterdam grabbed the fourth and final ticket for the playoffs by beating Schaerweijde 4-2. Despite the defeat, the team from Zeist will also play at the highest level next season. Besides Laren, HDM will also have to maintain its position in the Tulp Hoofdklasse via the play-offs.

Laren - Hurley 2-2

The starting position was clear for Hurley. Only a win could prevent direct relegation. The visitors from the Amsterdamse Bos took the lead after four minutes through Deegan Huisman. Laren replied almost immediately with Berend van Langeveld's equaliser. Just before half-time, Laren took the lead through Kenny Bain, who promoted a cracked penalty corner into a goal.

Hurley had to come and through Fred Newbold the 2-2 also fell. That goal, however, proved insufficient. In the final offensive, in which goalkeeper Joren Romijn was substituted for an extra player, the third goal did not come. As a result, Hurley will play in the Promotieklasse next season. Laren must try to maintain itself at the highest level via the play-offs.

Amsterdam - Schaerweijde 4-2

After Oranje-Rood, Rotterdam and Pinoké, Amsterdam was the last team to qualify for the play-offs. The defending champion defeated Schaerweijde 4-2 at Wagener Stadium. Two of Amsterdam's four goals were scored by Floris Middendorp.

The win meant the Amsterdammers remained unbeaten in their last six home games. Coach Rick Mathijssen's team ends the regular season in fourth place, four points ahead of number five Den Bosch, which drew 3-3 against HDM. In the semi-finals of the play-offs, Amsterdam meets unbeaten frontrunner Oranje-Rood.

Schaerweijde finished ninth. The team finished the regular season without a win in the last six away games, but is assured of another season in the Tulp Hoofdklasse.

Den Bosch - HDM 3-3

Until 57 seconds before the end, HDM seemed to be able to avoid the play-offs. The Hague team got to 2-3 through Guus van den Boezem three minutes before time, after erasing a 2-1 deficit in the fourth quarter.

The joy was short-lived. With less than a minute on the clock, Thierry Brinkman equalised. That point means HDM will have to hold on through the play-offs. The team last played play-outs in 2022-2023 and then managed to save themselves via two wins over Hurley (1-2 and 4-2).

There were no happy faces at Den Bosch. The team finished fifth, four points behind Amsterdam. There was personal success for Timo Boers. Partly thanks to a goal from a penalty stroke, he crowned himself top scorer of the Tulp Hoofdklasse with 31 goals. Remarkable: Boers scored in all ten match rounds after the winter break and reached nineteen goals in that series.

Klein Zwitserland - Rotterdam 0-5

Thanks in part to two goals by Olivier Hortensius, Rotterdam recorded a big 5-0 win over Klein Zwitserland. This gave Rotterdam confidence for the play-offs, after two defeats in the last three matches.

Klein Zwitserland, who finished eighth, said goodbye to goalkeeper Koene Schaper. He was substituted by Julian Seckel, who kept his goal clean in the final minutes.

So the season is over for Klein Zwitserland. Rotterdam prepares for the semi-final against Pinoké.

Oranje-Rood - Kampong 2-1

Leader Oranje-Rood finished the regular league without defeat. In the last home match, Kampong was beaten 2-1. The winning goal came from Isha Houben.

It is the first time in club history that Oranje-Rood ends a regular season without defeat. Even predecessor Oranje Zwart never succeeded. And that was not the only club record to go into the books. With the seventh win in a row, the Eindhoven team recorded seventeen victories in 22 matches this season, an improvement on the record from the 2023-2024 season, when sixteen league matches were won. By the way, Oranje-Rood is now unbeaten in the Tulp Hoofdklasse for 25 games in a row.

Pinoké - Bloemendaal 1-1

For the fifth time in a row, Pinoké failed to win against Bloemendaal. Just before half-time, Miles Bukkens put the 1-1 on the board from a penalty stroke, after Elian Mazkour had opened the score for the visitors after 13 minutes.

Bloemendaal ends the season with a four-match unbeaten run, good for sixth place in the final rankings. Pinoké finished third, with five matches in a row without defeat, and will play Rotterdam in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
