Jip Janssen: 20+ goals for fourth season in a row
The battle for the top scorer's title in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men is heading into an exciting final phase, with six contenders left for the honorary title. On behalf of Kampong, Jip Janssen did good business last weekend.
Janssen scored twice on behalf of the Utrecht team in the top match against Bloemendaal (4-4) and increased his production to 21 goals in this league. That is only two less than the two leaders on the top scorers list, Miles Bukkens (Pinoké) and Boris Burkhardt (Amsterdam).
It is already the fourth consecutive season that Kampong's penalty corner king can notch more than 20 goals in the Hoofdklasse, after his 22, 34 and 24 goals in previous seasons. Janssen thus follows in the footsteps of Kampong legend Paul Litjens, who was the only other player from the Utrecht club to score at least 20 times four seasons in a row. The Utrecht club's all-time top scorer even did so in five consecutive seasons between 1977 and 1982.
