Kampong surprises Bloemendaal with lightning start in semi-final
Sat 17 May 16:00
Men 5 - 2

Kampong pulled off a resounding stunt in the semi-finals of the playoffs by beating Bloemendaal 5-2. In Utrecht, penalty corner specialist Jip Janssen led his team to a convincing victory with four goals.
The reigning national champion - only fourth in the regular league - struck mercilessly in the first quarter. Janssen pushed twice, before Mats Gruter tapped in the 3-0. Bloemendaal, unbeaten all season against top clubs, managed to come back through Dennis Warmerdam, but Janssen used a penalty stroke before half-time: 4-1.
After the break, the defender scored again from the spot. Janssen thus lifted his total production in the playoffs to 14 and can now call himself Kampong's all-time top scorer in the nacompetition. He obliterated the club record of Philip Meulenbroek and Constantijn Jonker (eleven goals each).
Meanwhile, frustration was mounting among the visitors. Floris Wortelboer was shown a green card and Nathan Ephraums had to leave with a yellow card after an altercation with Sander de Wijn.
Thanks to a late goal by Teun Beins from a penalty corner, Bloemendaal kept the damage limited, but the deficit of three goals is hefty. Sunday at 16:00 awaits the return match at 't Kopje.
