Knötschke new coach of HDM next season
Ivar Knötschke will be the new head coach of the HDM men's team from next season. He will succeed Richard Smith, who left immediately, and his temporary replacement Pieter Pieterse.
Knötschke returns to the club where he was responsible for the women's team in recent seasons. Most recently, he served as assistant coach with Kampong's men's team.
Nicole Heupers, board member of HDM, is pleased with the appointment. 'Ivar has proven to be a great coach in the past and we are extremely happy that he will now bring his experience and vision to the men's team. His knowledge of the club, his clear and lucid approach and style of coaching will be of great value to the team.'
Poor results
HDM is in dire straits this season. The team won only one of its last 12 matches and must fear play-offs to stay in the Premier League. The meagre results led to a rift with head coach Richard Smith last week.
Knötschke is eagerly looking forward to his return: 'I am coming back to the old nest. After my time at HDM Ladies 1 and the experience I gained at Kampong this year, I am ready to take Men 1 to the next level. I am convinced that we can achieve a lot as a team and I look forward to working hard with the players to achieve the club's ambitions.'
