Oranje-Rood surprises with return of Bob de Voogd
A resounding surprise in Eindhoven. Oranje-Rood reports the return of Bob de Voogd to Heren 1. The now 36-year-old former international signed for one season with his old love.
De Voogd played for Italian HC Bra last season, a club at the second level. 'Bob brings exactly the experience and mentality we need for our ambitions,' head coach Ageeth Boomgaardt said in a club press release. 'His international experience and proven track record at the highest level make him a valuable asset.'
'After talks with the staff and the board, I fully believe in the direction the club is going. With my experience, I want to play an important role in this new phase,' reports De Voogd. 'I can help young players take the next step and support established players with my experience. In addition, I want to help the club make connections between hockey and business.'
The former Oranje international (146 caps, 35 goals) played 12 seasons for Oranje Zwart and Oranje-Rood. In 2019, he left for Braxgata, where the Brabander appeared to end his top hockey career in 2022. But after two seasons at HC Helmond - the club where he started - and a year in Italy, the attacking midfielder did reappear in the Tulp Hoofdklasse.
