Pinoké gets off with a scare against Huizen
Huizen gave Pinoké a handful of work on the eighteenth round of the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women. Pinoké was finally on the right side of the score on Saturday with a 4-2 win. HGC was 3-1 too strong for HDM.
Pinoké - Huizen 4-2
Pinoké had to work hard against bottom-placed HuIZEN. After trailing 0-2, the home team eventually won 4-2. Imke Verstraeten was the big star with a historic hat-trick, equalling Nicci de Haas' club record from 2005-2006 with 11 goals in one season.
Huizen surprised the Steekneuzen by taking a cheeky lead through a penalty corner goal by Sam Luttmer. The visitors even doubled the lead when Noa van Leer found the net. But Pinoké equalised before half-time thanks to penalty corner goals by Verstraeten and Tessa Beetsma. In the second game, Pinoké pulled the match to their advantage.
Verstraeten completed her second ever hat-trick with two more goals: first from a penalty corner and later from the penalty spot. With this performance, she equalled Kari Stam's record as the only Pinoké player with two hat-tricks to her name. The win brings coach Daan Sabel's team one step closer to qualifying for the play-offs. Huizen remains last with five points from eighteen matches.
HDM - HGC 1-3
HGC decided the derby against HDM in The Hague in its favour. The visitors took the lead as early as the fourth minute through a penalty corner goal by Amy Costello, her tenth of the season. Even before half-time, HGC extended the margin to 0-3, thanks to goals by Amy van den Bosch and Bente Kolmus.
HDM managed to come back through a penalty stroke by Belén van den Broek, but could not prevent the ninth defeat in a row. HGC gathered four points from its last two games with this victory.
