The board of the Tulp Hoofdklasse Hockey has appointed Rob Almering as director of the Tulp Hoofdklasse. Over the past year, the Tulp Hoofdklasse has focused on further professionalising and rolling out its new media and brand strategy.

This forms the basis for the sustainable growth and further development of club hockey in the Netherlands. The joint presidents of the Tulp Hoofdklasse have an ambitious vision for the (inter)national growth of the world's best hockey competition. For this next step, a director with an appropriate profile has been appointed to realise this ambition.

Following an open recruitment process, Rob Almering has been chosen. Almering (59) began his career in the banking sector and has subsequently built a strong track record within top-level sport. Previously, he was director of FC Den Bosch and for almost seven years he has been chairman of Hockeyclub 's-Hertogenbosch, a top club with a rich championship history. He is also active in various interim management and supervisory roles.

Rob Almering

"I have been active in hockey for many years and have got to know the club life and the context of the sport well. We play in the best league in the world, and from that position the Dutch women's and men's teams are among the global top three. I strongly support the shared ambition for top hockey. I am happy to take the experience I have gained into my new role as director of the Tulp Hoofdklasse. I understand that my chairmanship at Hockeyclub 's-Hertogenbosch cannot be combined with this new position. Therefore, I will hand over my role as chairman this summer to a successor yet to be appointed."

Chairman of the Tulp Hoofdklasse board, Diederik Chevalier, is looking forward to the partnership:

"We look forward to Rob Almering's leadership to work with the clubs, the KNHB, our sponsors Tulp Keukens, Viaplay and Azerion, and all other partners to fulfil our ambition to further grow the Tulp Hoofdklasse."

Hoofdklasse Hockey originated in 1973 and has become the most prestigious hockey competition in the world. Every season, 12 top clubs compete for the coveted national title and a spot in the EHL (Euro Hockey League). Both the men's and women's competitions are known for their high level. The league is dynamic and exciting. As a result, the leagues attract a lot of attention not only nationally, but also internationally.
