Rotterdam and coach Erik van Driel part ways after this season
Rotterdam will have a new men's coach after this season. The club reports that head coach Erik van Driel will leave after the end of this hockey year.
Rotterdam says the decision stems from 'a strategic consideration about the club's long-term vision and from the conviction that a different type of coach is desired for the next phase.'
Van Driel has now been with Rotterdam for a year and a half. He succeeded Robin Rösch in summer 2024, who reached the final of the play-offs with his team. Rotterdam fell far short of that last season.
Despite the presence of a host of internationals, the title contender had to settle for fifth place. This season, Rotterdam is doing better. Van Driel's team currently holds third place, although the gap with seventh place is only three points.
Rotterdam indicates that the club will comment on Van Driel's succession at a later date.
