Struan Walker equals club record of Mink van der Weerden
In his very first season at Oranje-Rood, Struan Walker equalled a club record that stood for seven years. The Scottish striker scored twice in the home game against Bloemendaal (4-1) on Sunday, bringing his season total to 24 goals.
That's as many as former club icon Mink van der Weerden's top production in the 2017-2018 season, the second season in the Eindhoven merged club's existence. Until this season, no player from Oranje-Rood could match Van der Weerden's goal scoring output.
Remarkably, Walker needed only 16 matches for his 24 league goals. He missed two league games in early 2026 due to international obligations with Scotland, so he is producing an average of one and a half goals per game played this season.
Top goalscorers Oranje-Rood in a single season
- 24 goals - Struan Walker (2025-2026, ongoing)
- 24 goals - Mink van der Weerden (2017-2018)
- 19 goals - Mink van der Weerden (2016-2017)
- 16 goals - Sam Lane (2022-2023)
- 16 goals - Thibeau Stockbroekx (2024-2025)
- 15 goals - Sam Lane (2023-2024)
Fourteen field goals, ten corners
The way Walker and Van der Weerden scored their goals could hardly have been more different. Mink was a pure penalty corner and penalty ball specialist: 20 of his 24 goals came from the penalty corner, one from field goals and three from the penalty spot. Walker also has an excellent penalty corner, but also scores a lot from field play: 14 of his 24 goals were field goals, 10 came from penalty corners.
With four match rounds to go in the regular league, Walker has every chance of beating Van der Weerden's record as well. His last four opponents in the regular league are Rotterdam (away), Schaerweijde (home), Hurley (away) and Kampong (home).
