The midweek match round 9 in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men again provided plenty of highlights on Thursday. We pick out two: an anniversary for Schaerweijde and a milestone for Rotterdam attacker Tjep Hoedemakers.

Schaerweijde suffered a big defeat against Oranje-Rood (1-5) at home on Thursday evening, taking over the lead in the Hoofdklasse from Amsterdam. Despite the eighth defeat in nine matches, the men from Zeist still had reason to smile and take pictures with each other afterwards.

Under the motto "you have to celebrate every success", coach Razwan Ahmed's squad celebrated a special anniversary. Teun van Aalderen's goal against Oranje-Rood - a shot on goal that disappeared into the goal via Tijmen Reyenga's stick - was Schaerweijde's 500th goal in the Hoofdklasse. It took the team seventeen seasons and 357 games to reach that milestone.

Frank Wever was the creator of Schaerweijde's very first goal in the Dutch premier league on 23 September 1973. He utilised a penalty stroke in the away match against HTCC, which the Zeists won 0-1. Former striker Michiel van Houten can call himself Schaerweijde's most successful shooter in the Hoofdklasse: he was good for forty goals between 1973 and 1981.

Milestone for Hoedemakers

Rotterdam attacker Tjep Hoedemakers also had reason to celebrate a success. In the home match against Laren, he contributed with one goal to a spacious 6-2 victory. That goal, his sixth of this league, was his 50th premier league goal in service of the Rotterdammers.

Amsterdam is Hoedemakers' favourite opponent with seven goals, who scored 46 times from field goals and four times via a penalty corner. He scored 23 of his 50 goals on the home pitch at Hazelaarweg and signed for the opening goal in a match six times.

With six goals after nine matches, Hoedemakers is on course for a new personal goal record. That stands at 11 goals and dates from the 2023-2024 season.
