Women 1 - 2

SCHC strengthened their lead in the Tulp Hoofdklasse on Saturday afternoon at the Klapperboom. Robbert van de Peppel's team beat competitors Kampong 1-2 in an exciting top match.
Kampong started sharp and immediately showed why the team is so high up the rankings this season. After only ten minutes, coach Kai de Jager's team took the lead via a penalty corner by Luna Fokke, who dragged the ball through the legs of SCHC goalkeeper Elodie Picard.
Only just after half-time SCHC was able to do something about the deficit. First, Maud van den Heuvel's fierce shot was turned away by Kampong goalkeeper Babette Backers, but a few minutes later she hit the ball around the penalty spot from the corner and it hit the board behind Backers: 1-1.
Winning goal by Yibbi Jansen
For a long time it looked like the exciting top match would end in a draw, as both teams missed chances. Until the 53rd minute, when SCHC pressed and forced a penalty corner. Yibbi Jansen had already tried three times in vain - partly due to excellent goalkeeping by Backers - but now she hit the target: 1-2.
The goal was her hundredth converted penalty corner for SCHC in the Hoofdklasse, but more importantly: it was a huge relief for the leaders, who then survived a final offensive by Kampong.
SCHC strengthened its leading position with the 1-2 win and is the only team still unbeaten this season, with five wins and one draw. For Kampong, it was the first defeat of this league. The team had not won a match against SCHC in the Hoofdklasse since October 2007, a streak that now spans 35 matches.
