Women's national champion Amsterdam have strengthened their squad for next season with Kaitlin Nobbs. The 28-year-old Australian international will make the move from WASPS Hockey Club in Perth after the summer.

Nobbs is a midfielder who can also perform as a defender. She has played for the Hockeyroos, Australia's national women's team, since 2016. In 2021, she competed with Australia in the Tokyo Olympics. In 2016, she won bronze with Young Australia at the World Under 21 Championship. She has since made 163 appearances for the national team and accounted for 12 goals.

Nobbs' arrival means a reinforcement with a lot of international experience for Amsterdam. Her hockey background is also firmly rooted in the family. Her father Michael Nobbs competed in the 1984 Olympics and was later national coach of India's men's team. Her mother Lee Capes won Olympic gold with Australia in 1988.

'We are extremely proud that a player of this calibre is making the move to Amsterdam,' said Ellen Hoog on behalf of Topsport AH&BC. 'Kaitlin brings international class, experience and winning mentality that will take our team to the next level.'

Amsterdam crowned themselves national champions last season. The team finished fourth in the regular league, but first eliminated SCHC in the playoffs and then were too strong for Den Bosch in the final.
