Bloemendaal stunts with win over DB, points loss Kampong
On the fourth round of play in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women, Bloemendaal caused a big surprise. The promoted team won 2-1 against reigning national champions Den Bosch at Oosterplas on Sunday. Kampong suffered its first points loss of the season after losing 3-3 against HGC. Leaders SCHC are the only team with a perfect score after the 2-0 win at the Amsterdam Forest over Hurley.
Den Bosch - Bloemendaal 1-2
A historic moment for Bloemendaal. They won against Den Bosch for the first time since 1996. And again with 2-1. Demi Hilterman put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes via the first penalty corner, marking her fiftieth major league goal. Just before half-time Sophie Thoolen doubled the margin from a razor-sharp counter. After the break, Den Bosch came back through Sanne Koolen from a penalty corner. The equaliser did not fall thanks in part to good goalkeeping by Bloemendaal's Phileine Hazen. It was the first away win at the Oosterplas ever for coach Andre Morees' team, which moved up to fifth place. Den Bosch drops to sixth place.
HDM - Tilburg 3-2
The devil of this match was in the tail with four goals in the last two minutes. Tilburg seemed to be heading for their first point of the season twice, but in the end the points stayed in The Hague. The Hague formation of Diederik van Weel took the lead just before half-time through Yara Akkerman. With that, HDM seemed to have victory in the bag, especially when Belén van den Broek was awarded a penalty stroke in the closing stages. Her effort went wrong, however, and not much later Tilburg equalised through Mijs Berkhemer. After that, the spectators along the line had to pay attention. Tessa Clasener brought HDM back into the lead from a rebound of a penalty corner. Iris Dominicus equalised immediately. However eighteen seconds before time, HDM got another penalty stroke. Van den Broek got behind the ball again. This time it did score, giving HDM a 3-2 win. For Tilburg, the grapes were sour. It was the fourth defeat in a row. Coach Matias Vila's team is penultimate in the standings with zero points. HDM remains fourth with its third win in four matches.
Hurley - SCHC 0-2
Leaders SCHC made no mistake against Hurley. Coach Robbert van de Peppel's team won 2-0. Pien Dicke opened the score early in the match, which was doubled in the fourth quarter by a hit penalty corner by Renée van Laarhoven. Like last Thursday, Yibbi Jansen played one half with SCHC, which remains the only team in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women to remain clear after four rounds. Moreover, SCHC has not yet conceded a goal and is now eighteen premier league games in a row without defeat. Hurley, which suffered its second league defeat, is seventh with four points.
Kampong - HGC 3-3
Kampong had a tough go at HGC at their own Klapperboom and avoided defeat in the dying seconds. Luna Fokke provided the Utrecht equaliser with a rake from a penalty corner. HGC started strongly with hits from Mikki Roolaart and Lilly Stoffelsma (penalty corner) within eight minutes. After half-time, Carlijn Tukkers brought the tension back with a variation from the corner, after which Sosha Benninga made it 2-2. Just before time, Faye Muijderman seemed to give HGC the win after all, but Fokke saved Kampong in extremis. Kampong is now seven matches unbeaten in the Tulp Hoofdklasse and remains second on the league table two points off leader SCHC. HGC remains eighth with four from four.
Oranje-Rood - Amsterdam 1-6
Amsterdam washed away the sour aftertaste of last Thursday's defeat against Kampong (2-3) with a 6-1 win in Eindhoven against Oranje-Rood. Already at half-time, coach Jesse Mahieu's team was leading 5-0. Trijntje Beljaars scored three goals, her first hat-trick in Amsterdam's shirt. Charlotte Schrijvers saved the honour for Oranje-Rood after Fay van der Elst put 0-6 on the board. The win lifted Amsterdam from fifth to third place. Oranje-Rood dropped from ninth to tenth place in the rankings.
Rotterdam - Pinoké 1-4
The first win of the season is in for Pinoké. Visiting Rotterdam, the straggler was beaten 4-1. Two goals for Pinoké were scored by Maria Steensma. For Rotterdam, it meant the fourth defeat in a row and the fifteenth league game without a win. One small bright spot: thanks to Melle Vaessen they finally scored again at home, after six scoreless home games. Pinoké moved up one place in the league table to ninth position thanks to the victory.
