Comebacks Amsterdam, Pinoké and HDM, red for Keenan
It was a Sunday afternoon full of spectacle in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men. Leaders Oranje-Rood gave away a 3-0 lead against Amsterdam. It ended up 3-3. Pinoké also fought back after a 3-0 deficit against Kampong. HDM turned a 2-0 deficit against Laren into a 3-2 victory. And Klein Zwitserland ended the day with ten players inside the lines. Nicolas Keenan received his second yellow card and thus red in the closing stages against Den Bosch after hitting Max Kreft with his stick.
AMSTERDAM - ORANGE-ROOD 3-3
As in the first encounter, the match between Amsterdam and Oranje-Rood ended in a true spectacle. In the first competition half in Eindhoven, the match ended in 4-4, after Oranje-Rood had led 3-0 and 4-2. Also at Wagener Stadium, the Tulp Hoofdklasse leaders took a comfortable lead.
Returning Scot Struan Walker scored two goals and now stands at 18, while Borja Lacalle scored once. Thus, the Eindhoven players led 3-0 after forty minutes.
With his first goal after the winter break, Boris Burkhardt, his seventeenth of the season, gave the go-ahead for a successful catch-up. Within nine minutes, the deficit was undone by goals from the Cassiem brothers. Dayaan's equaliser in particular was wonderful, a lovely blast into the top corner.
In the last six matches, Amsterdam has scored 38 goals in total, an average of 6.3 goals per match. With the point, Amsterdam, which missed Floris Middendorp, remains unbeaten for the fifth match in a row. Oranje-Rood's run is even longer. The team has been unbeaten in league play for 18 matches.
PINOKÉ - KAMPONG 3-3
Troubled Kampong travelled to the Amsterdamse Bos without the injured Jip Janssen and Lars Balk. In the last six games the team suffered four defeats. After the winter break, not a single point was taken.
Not nice statistics, but after nine minutes of play the Utrecht formation led 0-3 against Pinoké. Duco Telgenkamp opened the score after five minutes, after which Finn van Bijnen scored two more goals. Still in the first quarter, Thies Prinz did something back for the home team.
The score remained on the board for a long time until Sander de Wijn of Kampong was forced to step aside with yellow. Pinoké took advantage of the numerical majority. Two goals by Florent van Aubel prevented defeat, as a result of which the side are now seven matches unbeaten. On its own field, Pinoké has been unbeaten for twelve matches in a row. The team did have to cede second place to Rotterdam, which won one more game.
LAREN - HDM 2-3
Two yellow cards cost Laren unpleasantly in the match against HDM. The team from the Gooi gave away a 2-0 lead in the fourth quarter after the cards, which fell in quick succession.
In eight minutes, HDM turned that deficit into a 3-2 victory. Chris Taberima had a big part in the comeback. He not only scored the winning goal, but also provided the assists on goals by Yorben Fontaine and Fabian Verzuu.
With the win, HDM ended a run of seven games without a win. At the same time, the team took more distance from the relegation zone. Number ten Schaerweijde follows on four points. Laren suffered its fourth defeat in a row and remains winless in its last seven matches.
BLOEMENDAAL - HURLEY 1-0
It did not go easy for Bloemendaal against Hurley. At 't Kopje, the straggler was beaten with the smallest difference. The only goal was scored by Elian Mazkour. The German scored a penalty stroke just before half-time.
It was Bloemendaal's second win in the six most recent matches. Hurley failed to score in matches with Bloemendaal for the fourth time in a row, a negative club record. The team has now been waiting for a league win for 25 matches. The gap with number 11 Laren remains four points. In the battle for a place in the play-offs, Bloemendaal took three important points. The difference with number four Amsterdam is only one point.
KLEIN ZWITSERLAND - DEN BOSCH 2-4
Den Bosch's 4-2 win was overshadowed by Klein Zwitserland's Nicolas Keenan's red card. In the final seconds of the matches, the Argentine hit Max Kreft, who had scored the fourth Bosch goal just before, with his waving stick. It was his second yellow card of the match.
Den Bosch took the lead twice, but both times Klein Zwitserland equalised. Just after half-time, Timo Boers put Den Bosch in the lead again with his fifteenth goal from a penalty corner. This time, Klein Zwitserland failed to produce the equaliser and Kreft decided the match definitively in Den Bosch's favour.
The defeat ended Klein Zwitserland's run of three unbeaten matches. Moreover, the team dropped from seventh to eighth place. Den Bosch fell two points behind number four Amsterdam. It was the team's fifth consecutive away win and seventh in the last ten league matches.
