Relegation cracker undecided, Amsterdam comfortably past Kampong
The relegation cracker in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women between Oranje-Rood and Tilburg ended without a winner. It finished 2-2 in Eindhoven on Sunday. At the Klapperboom in Utrecht, Amsterdam convincingly won the top match against Kampong (0-4). Leaders SCHC was 3-1 too strong for Rotterdam and national champion Den Bosch had little trouble with HGC: 5-0. At the Amsterdamse Bos, Bloemendaal recorded a 2-1 win over Hurley.
KAMPONG - AMSTERDAM 0-4
The top match at the Klapperboom ended in a convincing victory for Amsterdam. Already after five minutes, the visitors took the lead through a penalty corner by Imke Verstraeten that was exploited. Later, Verstraeten also cashed in a penalty stroke, taking her season total to 11 goals. Before half-time, Fay van der Elst had already doubled the margin with her 75th goal in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. Trijntje Beljaars set the final score at 0-4 and was finally prolific again for Amsterdam. In the first seven matches of the season, Beljaars scored eight times, but in the six subsequent matches she remained without goals. The defeat ended a run of six wins in a row for Kampong. Amsterdam is already unbeaten on foreign soil for 10 league games.
ORANJE-ROOD - TILBURG 2-2
Disappointed faces on both teams after the clash in the lower reaches of the Tulp Hoofdklasse. At Oranje-Rood, the players were disappointed that the 2-1 lead was given up just before time and at Tilburg, the feeling was that they were better than the home team, but in the end there was no more in it than a draw. The visitors did have the start they had wanted. After only four minutes, Mikki Roberts opened the scoring for Tilburg, which has added former international Margot van Geffen to its staff. Oranje-Rood then equalised against the odds when Margje van der Loo completed a counter and scored her first goal in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. In the closing stages, Thirsa Kho appeared to give Oranje-Rood the win with a penalty corner that was taken, but Roberts dragged a point out of the fire for Tilburg just before time. The difference between number eleven Oranje-Rood and straggler Tilburg remains three points.
HURLEY - BLOEMENDAAL 1-2
Demi Hilterman proved to be important again for Bloemendaal. With two goals from a penalty corner after half-time, the club's top scorer turned her team's deficit around with seven goals. Hurley had taken the lead after 12 minutes through a goal by Fleur Loomans. For Bloemendaal, the win ended a run of six league matches without a win. Moreover, the team won again for the first time since February 2021 against Hurley, which has now lost two of its last five league matches. The victory lifted Bloemendaal from seventh to sixth place.
ROTTERDAM - SCHC 1-3
The first encounter ended in an 8-0 victory for SCHC over Rotterdam, but this time things went a bit more difficult. The start was good from SCHC. Xan de Waard hit the crossbar in the early stages. After Bobbi Dijk missed a good opportunity for a Rotterdam lead, the home team still made it 1-0. Brechtje van Santbrink scored from a penalty corner. Rotterdam, without coach Jorge Nolte and the injured Noor Omrani, went into the break with that lead. Shortly after the resumption, SCHC turned the matches around. Jip Dicke equalised within half a minute and signed for her fourteenth goal of the season. Yibbi Jansen then made it 1-2 from a penalty corner, before Mette Winter made it 1-3. With the win, the leaders are already unbeaten in 28 league matches. For Rotterdam, a streak of five unbeaten matches came to an end. On the league table, the team dropped to seventh place.
DEN BOSCH - HGC 5-0
The match at Oosterplas was already decided at half-time. Den Bosch led 4-0 after two quarters. The first chance was an immediate hit for the home team. Frédérique Matla opened the scoring with a fine turn after a pass from Lieve Wijckmans. Moments later, Joosje Burg doubled the lead, after which goalkeeper Josine Koning turned away a weakly pushed penalty stroke by HGC's Isis van Loon. Two minutes later, Den Bosch ran out to 3-0 through Teuntje de Wit and shortly afterwards Matla made it 4-0. After half-time, Matla made her hat-trick from a penalty corner, her 15th goal of the season. It was the sixth win in a row for the Bossche formation in front of their own crowd. HGC, which has not won a single away game this season, has been waiting for a win for nine games.
