Den Bosch continue to win, Hurley comfortably past Huizen
Leaders Den Bosch maintained their perfect score in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women on Saturday. The reigning champions won 1-0 over HDM during the twelfth round of play. Hurley struck out at home against bottom-club Huizen (5-0).
HDM - DEN BOSCH 0-1
A converted penalty stroke by Frédérique Matla - her thirteenth goal of the season - was enough for Den Bosch to record its twelfth win in 12 league matches. For Matla, it was her nineteenth league goal against HDM. This makes the Hague team the international's third-favourite opponent. Only against Pinoké (27 goals) and Bloemendaal (21) did Matla find the net more often. Furthermore, she is only four goals away from her 250th official goal for Den Bosch.
Thanks to the narrow win, coach Marieke Dijkstra's team is now 53 games in a row unbeaten in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. HDM, who also lost 1-0 to SCHC last Wednesday, suffered its third defeat in a row. HDM failed to score for the third time in a row and for the fifth time this season. The team scored only eight goals in 12 matches. Only bottom-club Huizen scored fewer goals (4).
HURLEY - HUIZEN 5-0
The five previous meetings between Hurley and Huizen never ended in a goal spectacle. This time too, goals seemed scarce as the teams headed for the dressing rooms with a 0-0 score after two quarters. In the third quarter Hurley shot out of its shell with four goals and in the last quarter the final score was set at 5-0. The team came close to its biggest ever home win. On 17 March 2013, the Terriers were beaten 6-0 at home.
The 5-0 win over bottom-placed Huizen ended a run of four league matches in which Hurley failed to win. Huizen, on the other hand, suffered their seventh defeat in a row and did not score a single goal in that series, a goal drought that has now lasted 424 minutes.
