Den Bosch already qualified for play-offs
The Den Bosch women are the first team to clinch a ticket for the play-offs after 16 rounds of play. The still unbeaten frontrunner in the Tulp Hoofdklasse can no longer fall outside the top four this season.
Den Bosch won its own match in and against Rotterdam on Saturday (0-2), its fifteenth win in 16 matches this season. Sunday's draw between playoff contenders Kampong and Pinoké (1-1) means the record champion cannot finish lower than fourth in the regular league this season. The gap between number five Kampong (27 points) and Den Bosch (46 points) is now 19 points. With six rounds of play to go, only eighteen points remain to be conceded.
Den Bosch is now assured of a spot in the play-offs for the national title for the 27th season in a row, a series that started back in the 1997-1998 season. Of the 26 previous seasons in that series, the club reached the final 24 times, winning 22 of them. In total, Den Bosch has been in the playoffs 28 times: it managed to do so for the first time in the 1994-1995 season.
SCHC (second in the rankings with 41 points) will normally be the next club to secure participation in the play-offs. The battle for the remaining two tickets will take a little longer, as Amsterdam (32 points), Pinoké (31) and Kampong (27) are not much apart.
