Gorzelany does something new, first goal for Felice Albers

Of all the top shooters in the women's competition, only Yibbi Jansen (SCHC) and Agustina Gorzelany (Amsterdam) scored last weekend. The latter did something she had not done before the winter break.

Jansen gave SCHC a narrow 1-0 win over Tilburg with a goal from the penalty stroke, while Gorzelany hit two goals for Amsterdam on a visit to HGC (1-7). Both players are now respectively two and three goals away from top goalscorer Frédérique Matla, who for once did not score a goal against Rotterdam (0-2).

There is something remarkable to report about Gorzelany's goals. Before the winter break, the Argentine penalty corner specialist scored 12 goals, strikingly enough all of them in the second half of all her matches. After the winter break, it is the other way round: the three goals in this calendar year fell all in the first half of her team's matches.

First for Albers
Incidentally, there was another striking thing in Amsterdam's match at HGC: striker Felice Albers scored for the first time this season. The Oranje international had had to miss the entire first half of the competition due to a knee injury and scored her first major league goal for almost a year in Wassenaar: on 13 April 2024, she had last scored a goal, away at HDM (2-7).

In the sub-top of the goalscorers' list, Pinoké striker Kari Stam lifted her season total to eight goals thanks to her opening goal in the top match against Kampong (1-1). With that, the all-time top scorer of the Stekneuzen is only three goals away from a new personal record: that stands at ten goals and dates from the 2021-2022 season.
