HGC beats Rotterdam, SCHC too strong for Hurley
During the nineteenth round in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women, HGC and SCHC took the full spoils. HGC was too strong at home 3-2 to Rotterdam and SCHC won 2-1 from Hurley in the Amsterdam Bos.
Hurley - SCHC 1-2
Without injured strikers Jip Dicke and Mette Winter, SCHC entered the match against Hurley in the Amsterdam Forest. Pien Dicke returned inside the lines with a mask to protect her recently broken nose. The team from Bilthoven kept three points from the matches with the formation of their new coach Robbert van de Peppel. Yibbi Jansen and Maud van den Heuvel scored SCHC's goals.
For Jansen, her goal marked her 149th official goal in the red-and-blue shirt. On behalf of Hurley, Sophie van Schelfhout scored from a penalty corner, with her now famous flats. The 1-2 half-time score also turned out to be the final score. With this victory, SCHC recorded its ninth win in the last ten matches and coach Gilles van Hesteren's team remained unbeaten in that series. For Hurley, an impressive seven-match winless streak came to an end. With a draw or a win, the team would have equalled a club record.
HGC - Rotterdam 3-2
HGC seems to have found the right form towards the end of the season. Coach Bas Bogaard's team recorded its second victory in a row, remaining unbeaten for the third game in a row. At home, Rotterdam was beaten 3-2. HGC got off to a convincing start: thanks to goals by Elke Boers and Amy van den Bosch, the home team took an early comfortable lead.
Rotterdam got back into the game through a goal by Noor Omrani, but Zoë Admiraal restored the margin by tapping in 3-1. In the closing stages, Isa van Spronsen returned the tension via a penalty corner that was taken, but there was no equaliser. For Rotterdam, it marked the seventh defeat in the last eight matches.
