Historic: Pinoké women advance to playoffs for first time
Sun 27 Apr 12:45
Women 3 - 2

Pinoké's women qualified for the playoffs for the first time in history on Sunday. Coach Daan Sabel's team secured a historic victory against Den Bosch (3-2) on their own pitch.
Pinoké initially faced a 0-2 deficit against Den Bosch after goals from Frédérique Matla and Joosje Burg, who recovered from a hamstring injury. Just before half-time, the Steekneuzen put the 1-2 on the board through Maria Steensma. After half-time, Pinoké took the initiative and even took the lead through two goals by Imke Verstraeten. The number three on the ranking did not relinquish that lead against a Den Bosch that was unable to make a fist of things in the second half.
With the win, Pinoké has reached 43 points after twenty rounds of play and cannot be overtaken by Kampong, number five on the league table. That means Sabel's formation will participate in the play-offs for the national title for the first time in the club's history. In the past four (full) seasons, Pinoké finished fifth each time and thus missed out on playoff participation time and again.
First against Den Bosch
The 3-2 victory was historic for Pinoké for another reason too. It was the first ever league victory for the Beards against Den Bosch. The 47 previous meetings in the Hoofdklasse resulted in 46 (!) defeats and one draw for Pinoké.
End to record series Den Bosch
For Den Bosch, the 3-2 defeat had a nasty taste in it. The frontrunner suffered its first league defeat in 953 days at Amsterdamse Bos. The record champion had not lost a single regular league match since a 2-0 defeat at Amsterdam on 18 September 2022, a series that counted 60 (!) matches (W50 G10). That was a record in the history of the Tulp Hoofdklasse.
