Janssen leads Kampong to win, record win for Rotterdam
On the fifteenth round of play in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men, Kampong successfully repelled an attack by Oranje-Rood for fourth place in the league table. It was 4-1 for the Utrecht-based team. Rotterdam remains on Kampong's trail after its record 10-0 victory over Hurley. Pinoké came out on top against bottom-placed Nijmegen (8-1) and leader Bloemendaal beat HDM 3-0.
Kampong - Oranje-Rood 4-1
With Jip Janssen excelling, Kampong put an end to the recent negative series against Oranje-Rood. Prior to the match, the Eindhoven side were a real fear angels for Kampong, winning the last two matches between them and three victories in the last four. This time, however, it was the Utrecht team that won convincingly: 4-1. Penalty corner specialist Janssen scored three times, his first goals of 2025, and brought his season total to eighteen goals. Duco Telgenkamp signed for the other Kampong goal, while Max de Bie saved the honour for Oranje-Rood. The victory gives Kampong a five-point lead over play-off rival Oranje-Rood, which has been winless in five consecutive away games. Kampong itself recorded its third home victory in a row.
Hurley - Rotterdam 0-10
The encounter between Hurley and Rotterdam got off to a remarkable start when the match had to start 15 minutes later than scheduled. A significant part of the Rotterdam squad was hampered by traffic congestion in Amstelveen, preventing them from reaching the home team's complex in time. However, this delayed attendance did not have any negative effect on the visitors' performance. The formation led by coach Erik van Driel had already built up an overwhelming 8-0 lead at half-time. In the second half, although the scoring pace slowed down, the Rotterdammers added two more goals to their impressive total. With this 10-0 victory, Rotterdam made history: never before had the club achieved such a big away win in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. For the home team, this beating marked the heaviest defeat ever at the highest level.
Bloemendaal - HDM 3-0
After the goal-festivals in the previous two encounters - good for a total of 20 goals - this time it remained considerably quieter on the scoreboard. Bloemendaal had their hands full with HDM, but eventually drew the longest end 3-0. Casper van der Veen was the big man with two goals, while Teun Beins made the final score from a penalty corner in the closing stages. For leaders Bloemendaal, it was the second win in four games since the winter break. HDM, under interim coach Pieter Pieterse, has now been waiting for a win for seven league games and managed to win only one of the last 12 premier league games.
Pinoké - Nijmegen 8-1
After a series of six defeats in the last seven matches, this convincing victory came at just the right time for the team of outgoing Pinoké coach Jesse Mahieu. At the Amsterdamse Bos, bottom-placed Nijmegen were beaten no less than 8-1. For Pinoké, it was an equalling of their biggest home win. On 2 May 2021, Pinoké won 8-1 at home against Tilburg. Joep Troost was the big man against Nijmegen with a hat-trick, while club top scorer Miles Bukkens scored twice, taking his season tally to 22 goals. For Nijmegen, this defeat marked their 12th defeat of the season. The team has now lost 29 of its last 37 premier league games.
