Joep Troost unstoppable: three hat-tricks in 21 days
Joep Troost is for now the goalgetter of 2025 in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. The Pinoké striker has shown a true goal explosion this calendar year with 12 goals in 21 days. A rare feat, according to the statistics.
Troost started his goal-scoring polonaise on 16 March: in the home game with Nijmegen, he scored his first-ever Hoofdklasse hat-trick during the 8-1 win over the league's straggler. A week later, he opened the scoring in the away game with SCHC (2-3 win) and then the hat-trick mode was activated again. Troost scored five times against Klein Zwitserland (5-2) on 29 March and three times on 5 April on visit to HDM (2-3).
To recap: that's 12 goals over the last four rounds of play. And also three hat-tricks (three goals or more in a game) within a span of 21 (!) days. That last statistic is extraordinary. In premier league history, it was rare for a player to reach three hat-tricks within three weeks.
Zeller takes the crown
A dip into the figures shows that only five players needed even fewer days to reach three hat-tricks. Prolific German striker Christopher Zeller takes the crown: he scored three hat tricks in eight days in the 2005-06 season for Bloemendaal, with a total of 11 goals in that short period.
Of course, this small group of players also includes premier league legend Ties Kruize. The iconic player of Klein Zwitserland shot three goals within fifteen days in March 1981: first he scored four goals against MOP (13-0), then he scored eleven (!) times against Breda (15-0) and then he scored three more against Laren (2-5): no less than eighteen goals in total.
