Men's Oranje-Rood get experienced Boomgaardt as coach
Ageeth Boomgaardt (52) will be at the helm at Oranje-Rood next season, where she will be responsible for the men's team from Eindhoven.
Boomgaardt is the successor to Omar Schlingemann, who left the team after one season. She is no stranger to Oranje-Rood and brings with her an impressive record. As a player, she played 195 times for Oranje, scoring 84 goals, and won Olympic bronze in 2000 and silver in 2004.
After her active career, she proved her coaching skills at various levels. From 2012 to 2014, she was assistant national team coach of the Dutch women's team and, as assistant coach, won the 2014 world title. From 2016 to 2017, she led the Belgian women's team as national coach.
Between 2008 and 2013, she was head coach of the Oranje-Zwart women, with whom she promoted to the Tulp Hoofdklasse in 2009. Later, she coached the women of MOP and Tilburg, among others.
Thijs Bams assistant
Boomgaardt's appointment makes her the only female coach in the Tulp Hoofdklasse for men next season. She has signed a one-year contract and will be assisted by Thijs Bams, who was still part of the selection last season.
