Matla in style to 250+ goals for Den Bosch
Frédérique Matla reached a milestone on Saturday night in the home game with HGC (6-1). The Den Bosch striker passed the mark of 250 official goals for the club.
Matla was on an old-fashioned roll against HGC, as she accounted for no fewer than four of the six goals of Den Bosch. Her second goal of the evening, a converted penalty stroke in the 25th minute, was a special one: it was her 250th goal in black and yellow.
With her four goals against HGC, Matla boosted her total production for Den Bosch to 252. She scored 187 times in the Hoofdklasse, nineteen times in the play-offs, 24 times in the Gold Cup and 22 times in European competition.
In the wake of Donners and Paumen
In Den Bosch's history, only two players have scored more goals than Matla at the highest level. Striker Mijntje Donners produced 348 official goals for Den Bosch between 1991 and 2007, and Maartje Paumen added to that. Between 2004 and 2017, the former penalty corner canon registered 474 goals for the club.
