Matla runs out of steam with EHL and playoffs in sight

Matla Den Bosch

Frédérique Matla is on an impressive goal-scoring run at Den Bosch. The striker has scored in each of her last seven games, scoring 10 goals in that series.

Last weekend, Matla also reached a special milestone. In the home game with HGC, she scored her 98th, 99th and 100th league goals in home games at the Oosterplas. Including her goals in away games, her total now stands at 205 goals in the Hoofdklasse.

With that, Matla climbs further up the league's perennial top scorer list. With her 205 goals, she has passed former SCHC defender Caia van Maasakker. Den Bosch's striker currently occupies seventh place.

The next name on the ranking is already within reach. Matla needs two more goals to equal Ageeth Boomgaardt (207 goals on behalf of MOP and Den Bosch).

On target against Bloemendaal
That could already happen next Sunday, when Den Bosch travels to Noord-Holland for the away match against Bloemendaal. Against that club, Matla can produce excellent figures. In the Hoofdklasse, she already scored 21 goals against TheMussen. Only against Pinoké (30 goals) and HGC (23) did she score more often.

Moreover, at 't Kopje, Matla feels remarkably at home. In her last four away games against Bloemendaal, she produced nine goals, with a remarkable run of hits: 2 - 3 - 3 - 1.

If this productivity continues, Matla could soon not only extend her scoring series - but also move up another place on the Hoofdklasse's all-time top scorer list.
