Miles Bukkens chases club record from 2012 after 50th goal
It is elbow-to-elbow at the top of the top shooters' list in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men. With two rounds to go, five players stand a chance of becoming this season's top scorer. Among them Pinoké attacker Miles Bukkens, who celebrated an anniversary last Sunday.
Amsterdam attacker Boris Burkhardt and Den Bosch defender Timo Boers, with 26 goals each, have the best papers for the top scorer title for now. But they are closely followed by Bukkens (24 goals), Jeroen Hertzberger (Rotterdam, 24) and Jip Janssen (Kampong, 23).
Bukkens scored his 50th goal in the Hoofdklasse last Sunday against Kampong (3-2 loss) and is aiming for the club record of Justin Reid-Ross, who came to 26 goals in the regular league in season 2011-2021. Next Saturday, the striker faces Hurley at home with Pinoké, the team against whom he already scored five goals in a 0-7 win in the first half of the competition.
Rotterdam-routinier Hertzberger scored five on Sunday in the home game with Nijmegen (8-4) - his 28th (!) Hoofdklasse hat-trick - and wants nothing more than to end his career as the most productive player of this season. The 39-year-old striker, who is quitting Rotterdam after this season, captured the top scorer title five times before (in 2012-2013, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2022-2023).
