The Tulp Hoofdklasse has finally awoken from its long winter hibernation. Almost a hundred days after the last round of play in the first half of the competition, the ball will start rolling again next weekend, starting with the men's league.

On Saturday, Rotterdam and Oranje-Rood kick off the second half of the competition from 16:30. This is immediately an important match in the battle for fourth place, which entitles them to a ticket for the play-offs. Oranje-Rood currently occupies fifth place with 19 points from 12 matches. Rotterdam is sixth with one point less, but still has a catch-up game against Bloemendaal to play. Both teams want to keep in touch with Kampong, which currently occupies fourth place.

Leaders Bloemendaal will take on SCHC on Sunday, which is bottom of the league with three points. Based on past history, the team from Bilthoven faces a tough afternoon at 't Kopje: they have never managed to win an away match against Bloemendaal.

Carnival match in Den Bosch
Apart from Bloemendaal, Den Bosch, number two on the league table, also meets a team from the lower regions. Amidst the carnival crowds, the Brabanders will be visited by Nijmegen on Sunday, which ended the first half of the competition with its first win of the season (4-1 against Hurley) and the biggest defeat in the club's history (0-8 against Bloemendaal).

For Pinoké, the 2022-2023 national champion, a tough task awaits Sunday at neighbouring Amsterdam, the proud number three on the league table. The team of outgoing coach Jesse Mahieu, down to seventh place, cannot afford any mistakes in the hunt for fourth place. Amsterdam hopes to build on a strong first half of the competition. Capturing the national indoor title in early February will have given the team an extra portion of self-confidence.

The women have to wait another week to take to the field again. There, the league resumes in the weekend of 8 and 9 March, including the top match between SCHC and Pinoké.
