- Men's
SCHC books historic win at Bloemendaal
Striker SCHC caused a resounding surprise by beating leader Bloemendaal 3-4 at home. The defeat allowed Amsterdam (3-1 win over Pinoké), Kampong (2-0 win over HDM) and Den Bosch (3-1 win against Nijmegen) to narrow the gap with the No1.
BLOEMENDAAL - SCHC 3-4
There was plenty to enjoy in the first two quarters for hockey fans at 't Kopje. Both teams were enjoying themselves under the lovely spring sunshine and scored plenty of goals. Teun Beins opened the scoring in the first minute on behalf of the home team, but SCHC came alongside through Cédric Terwel and Lars van Dommelen. Although Nathan Ephraums still equalised, Max Sweering ensured that the number last of the Tulp Hoofdklasse surprisingly went to rest with a 2-3 lead.
Among the home side's supporters, of course, there was no stress at that point. But when Alistair Empey made it 2-4, that was the signal for Bloemendaal to go on the attack in full force. However, despite a veritable siege, Bloemendaal did not get further than a goal from Dennis Warmerdam.
The defeat was the first against SCHC for the orange shirts in no less than 21 (!) years. The Mussen last lost to the Bilthoveners on 28 March 2004. Back then, it was 2-1 in Bilthoven. SCHC, which also won an away match against Bloemendaal for the first time, also ended Bloemendaal's impressive run of 25 consecutive games unbeaten on Sunday.
KAMPONG - HDM 2-0
Kampong resumed the Tulp Hoofdklasse with a regular win over HDM and could also acclaim second goal of the season from striker Duco Telgenkamp, who has been on the sack a lot this league. The home team could use his goal well, as it was only after just under half an hour of play that Kampong broke the spell against the stiff Hague formation. Telgenkamp tapped the ball in at the far post after good preparatory work by Silas Lageman.
Kampong's lead was deserved. The home team was much better, but HDM's goalkeeper Luis Beckmann kept a strong game. After the 1-0, it took until the 58th minute for the goalie to capitulate again. This time it was Derck de Vilder who helped Kampong to a 2-0 victory.
AMSTERDAM - PINOKÉ 3-1
Just like in the outing before the winter break, Amsterdam was too strong for Pinoké on Sunday in the Bos derby, which can put aspirations of reaching the play-offs out of mind. The home team laid the foundations for victory as early as the first half, where Boris Burkhardt pushed a penalty corner that was tipped in by Dayaan Cassiem for the 1-0. Cassiem, who was also treacherous in the first encounter, doubled the lead for the home team a minute later.
Pinoké finally failed to recover those blows throughout the match. When Brent van Bijnen even made it 3-0 after 23 minutes of play, the game was well played. In the third quarter, Miles Bukkens made it 3-1 with his eighteenth goal of the season.
DEN BOSCH - NIJMEGEN 3-1
Den Bosch had done everything possible in the run-up to the matches with Nijmegen to bring the fans out of the carnival atmosphere to the stadium at Oosterplas. It was not completely full, but given the number of spectators it is clear that men's hockey is alive and well in Den Bosch.
The decked-out fans saw that the home team did not have too much of a problem with the guests from Nijmegen. The players from Brabant did not have to put in too much effort to keep the three points in Den Bosch and plunged into the festivities in Oeteldonk with a smile.
Still worth mentioning is Nijmegen's 3-1. Phillip Jannes deliciously dragged the ball into the top corner a minute before time. His smile over that goal disappeared quickly, because a minute later the corner player was sidelined with a yellow card.
