SCHC left straggler after KNHB points penalty
The league management of the KNHB has imposed a points penalty on the SCHC men's team. The team from Bilthoven receives three points deduction for fielding a non-playing player during last Sunday's home match against Kampong (1-2).
Because of the penalty, Stichtsche is now at the bottom of the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men with three points from 11 games. That is one point less than Hurley and two less than Nijmegen, who now occupy 11th and 10th place in the rankings, respectively.
Administrative error
SCHC received the penalty because of an administrative error. Teams in the Hoofdklasse are allowed to participate in Tulp Hoofdklasse matches with seventeen players, provided at least two players are younger than 21 on October 1 of the current season. This was not the case with SCHC. Of all the players in the match selection against Kampong, only Casper Hafkamp was under 21.
Initially 19-year old Lars van Dommelen was also supposed to be in the squad, but he called in sick at the last moment. In his place, the technical staff - inadvertently - added an older teammate to the squad, someone older than 21. As a result, he was the ineligible player.
The KNHB informs that Article 4.11 of the Federal Regulations applies to this offense. These provide that the team will be deducted three game points. Kampong was given the option to replay the game, but requested that the original result (1-2) be maintained.
