SCHC, Kampong, OR and Bloemendaal in finals for ABN Cup
The finalists of the ABN Amro Hockey Weekend have been announced. For the women, SCHC and Kampong qualified for the final of the preseason tournament, while for the men the final is between Oranje-Rood and Bloemendaal.
In the women's competition, SCHC were the first to secure a spot in the final on Friday. The team of new coach Robbert van de Peppel beat Tilburg 3-0 on the main pitch of Kampong, through goals by Yibbi Jansen, Elzemiek Zandee and Mette Winter.
Later in the evening, Kampong eliminated cup holder Pinoké. The final score was 3-1 in Utrecht, with goals from Sosha Benninga (two) and Eline Jansen for Kampong. On behalf of Pinoké, who reached the playoffs for the first time last year, Florine Rodenburg was prolific.
Oranje-Rood's men were too strong for Pinoké in the semi-final. Goals from high-scoring Scottish striker Struan Walker and Borja Lacalle made the difference for the Eindhoven men, who can prepare for a final against Bloemendaal.
The Mussen disposed of Rotterdam in the other semi-final with the smallest possible difference. German striker Elian Mazkour - transferred from Rot-Weiss Köln, scored the winning goal (1-0). He has already scored five times for Bloemendaal this preseason.
The battle for the ABN Amro Cup will be decided next Sunday at the Kampong complex.
