Spanish goalkeeper Luis Calzado signs for Kampong
Kampong has signed Spanish goalkeeper Luis Calzado for next season. The 24-year-old international comes over from Real Club de Polo in Barcelona.
Calzado is the successor to Irish goalie David Harte, who recently announced his departure from the Utrecht club. The Spaniard agreed a three-season contract with Kampong.
Calzado has proven himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe in recent years. He played in the Pro League and at the European Championships and was a key player for Spain at last year's Olympics, where he reached the semi-finals with his team. He was also named best goalkeeper at the Olympic qualifiers.
'I am immensely looking forward to playing at Kampong and contributing to the club's success,' Calzado said. Head coach Tim Oudenaller is excited about his arrival: 'Luis fits perfectly with our ambition to raise the bar with top talent.'
