De Nooijer and Amsterdam part ways after this season
Teun de Nooijer will quit as coach of the Amsterdam women's team after this season. The Dutch record international has been responsible for the team from the capital since last season.
In his first season with Amsterdam, De Nooijer won the prestigious Euro Hockey League, held at the Wagener Stadium. Amsterdam was too strong for German Mannheimer HC in the final. In the Hoofdklasse, De Nooijer's team were eliminated in the semi-final against SCHC (0-0 away, 1-2 at home).
This season is not going as well for Amsterdam. At the start of the winter break, the team had already lost fourteen points after thirteen games. Amsterdam currently occupie fourth place, fourteen points behind leader Den Bosch. Pinoké and SCHC are also still above the Amsterdam team.
Amsterdam says it is looking for a new head coach with a long-term vision. De Nooijer's successor will most likely be announced in next few days.
