Top scorers: Boers first ever Bossche player to reach 30 goals
Timo Boers will have had a double feeling about the past match round in the Hoofdklasse. The Den Bosch defender scored a hat-trick for the third (!) week in a row and now leads the top scorers list with thirty league goals. However, he saw his team lose the fourth spot - and thus a play-off ticket - against Kampong.
TULP HOOFDKLASSE WOMEN
The battle for the top scorer's title in the last match round is between two goal scoring machines that also dominated the goal scoring league in recent years: Yibbi Jansen of SCHC and Frédérique Matla of Den Bosch. Both players are on 21 goals after 21 match rounds. SCHC striker Jip Dicke, with her 19 goals, is also still in the race, but will need at least a hat-trick on Sunday's visit to Bloemendaal to still have a chance of winning the honorary title.
Since the 2019-2020 season (aborted due to the corona pandemic), Matla and Jansen divided all top scorer titles in the Hoofdklasse. Matla was the best shooter in five of those six seasons: only in 2022-2023 did she have to leave the honour to Jansen. SCHC attacker Ginella Zerbo was the last other player to run away with the top scorer title in 2018-2019.

In the men's side, top scorer Timo Boers took further distance from his direct competitors. Den Bosch's penalty corner specialist scored three goals in the crazy away match against Kampong, which the men from Den Bosch ended with a 6-5 defeat and a big hangover. As a result, they dropped from fourth to fifth place and placement for the play-offs is no longer in their own hands.
Boers took his total to 30 goals in 21 games, setting a new club record. He is the first player from the Bossche club to manage to score at least thirty goals in one premier league season. The previous club record was held by Piet-Hein Geeris, who reached 29 goals in 1998-1999.
