Top scorers: Walker can feel Boers breathing down his neck
Den Bosch defender Timo Boers' four goals against Schaerweijde put him emphatically in the battle for the top scorer title in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men. For the women, Yibbi Jansen ticked the 20-goal mark for the fifth consecutive season.
TULP HOOFDKLASSE WOMEN
SCHC midfielder Yibbi Jansen became the first player to reach the 20-goal mark this season. She scored once last Sunday in the home match against straggler Tilburg, which surprisingly ended in a 2-2 draw. It is already the fifth consecutive season that Jansen has produced at least twenty goals in the Hoofdklasse. In the previous four seasons, she came to 26. 23, 21 and 21 goals respectively.
Meanwhile, behind Jansen, Frédérique Matla has taken over the second spot on the top scorer list from SCHC striker Jip Dicke. The Den Bosch striker hit two goals in the away game with Hurley (1-4) and is now on eighteen goals. Matla can pass the 20-goal mark for the third time in a row in the remainder of the season, after her 27 goals from 2023-2024 and last season's 22 goals.

In the men's side, it looks like the battle for the top scorer title will be a match between Struan Walker (Oranje-Rood) and Timo Boers (Den Bosch), last season's top scorer. Walker added two more goals to his total on Sunday in the top match at Rotterdam (1-4 win): he now stands at 26 goals, knocking Mink van der Weerden's club record from 2017-2018 (24 goals) out of the books.
Boers fired four shots on the visit to Schaerweijde (1-8), taking his production to 24 goals. It was already his third hat-trick of the season for the Den Bosch defender, as many as Walker. Earlier, Boers scored three goals against Pinoké (6-3) and also scored four in the outward match against Schaerweijde (9-0).
