Top transfer: Amsterdam sign Kampong striker Duco Telgenkamp
Big transfer news: national champions Amsterdam have strengthened their squad for next season with Duco Telgenkamp. The striker, whose shoot-out gave the Dutch national team Olympic gold in 2024, comes over from Kampong.
Telgenkamp is currently on his fourth season in Utrecht service. At Kampong, he has scored 62 goals in all official matches. At Oranje, his tally stands at 21 goals, in 32 international appearances. That striker returned to the Dutch national team this season, after a few months focusing completely on himself and his career outside hockey.
Competing for prizes
Amsterdam reports in its press release that Telgenkamp 'consciously chose a new environment.' 'I hope to grow further here as a player and as a person,' the international states. 'Apart from that, of course, the main goal is to compete for prizes.'
Amsterdam is obviously delighted with the goalgetter's arrival. 'We want to play attractive, attacking hockey at the highest level - hockey with which we let the public enjoy themselves and with which Men's 1 is structurally competing for the prizes', says top hockey director Joris Albers. 'That a player of his calibre chooses to commit to Amsterdam not only makes us proud, but also underlines our ambition.'
