What the stats say
- Rotterdam lost only one of its last six matches with Amsterdam (W3 G2): that was the most recent encounter, on 3 May during the penultimate match round in the Hoofdklasse (2-3).
- On the contrary, the outward game in Amsterdam ended in a big win for Rotterdam (0-3), through goals by Tjep Hoedemakers, Pepijn van der Heijden and Nick van Trigt.
- Rotterdam remained unbeaten in its last four away matches with Amsterdam: 1-6, 2-4, 3-3 and 0-3.
- Rotterdam scored 16 goals in its last four visits to Wagener Stadium: 1-6, 2-4, 3-3 and 0-3.
- In recent years, it has been raining goals in matches between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The last 11 matches between them accounted for 66 goals, an average of six goals per match.
- The most goal-rich edition ever of Amsterdam-Rotterdam was the 6-7 of 25 March 2012. On 14 March 2021, that record was almost equalled when Rotterdam-Amsterdam ended in 6-6.
- The two teams face each other in the final of the playoffs for the second time. The first time was in season 2011-2012. Then Amsterdam was too strong for the Rotterdammers twice (3-2 and 1-2).
- Amsterdam can prolong its title for the first time in fourteen years. The last time Amsterdam crowned two consecutive national champions was in 2011 and 2012.
- If Amsterdam beats Rotterdam in two matches, the team will capture its 23rd national title. That would be a new national record. Amsterdam currently shares that record with Bloemendaal, which has also won 22 titles.
- Rotterdam is in the final for the national title for the fifth time in the club's history. Of the four previous finals, the team lost three. Only in 2013 did Rotterdam crown themselves national champions, at the expense of Oranje Zwart.
- Rotterdam won its last seven official away matches (six in the Hoofdklasse and one in the play-offs), scoring 28 goals (an average of four per match).
- Brothers Mustapha and Dayaan Cassiem are playing an important role in Amsterdam's goal tally this season. In seventeen of 24 official games (Hoofdklasse and play-offs), one of the two brothers scored.
- Amsterdam is the favourite opponent of Rotterdam attacker Tjep Hoedemakers. He scored eight goals against the Hoofdklasse side, more than against any other opponent. Seven of Hoedemakers' eight goals came in the Wagener Stadium.
