Wouter Tazelaar appointed as new coach women's HGC
HGC has found a successor for the departed Bas Bogaard. The Wassenaar team will be led by experienced Wouter Tazelaar next season. With his appointment, HGC brings in a chunk of experience to take the women's line to the next level.
Tazelaar is no stranger to the top of Dutch hockey. Some 20 years ago, he was already active as a coach at the highest level with the men's teams of Hurley, Kampong and HDM. After this Hoofdklasse adventure, he remained as active as ever in the hockey landscape; in recent seasons he was at the helm of HDS and Leiden, among others.
With the arrival of Tazelaar as successor to Bogaard, who left for Hurley, HGC hopes to seek calmer waters. The Wassenaar formation experienced a very rough and capricious season, in which relegation worries lurked for a long time. Only after a blood-curdling last round, the team managed to secure its final spot and ended the league with the sixth spot in the Tulp Hoofdklasse.
Mark van Loon, responsible for Top Hockey Ladies at HGC: 'Wouter brings an enormous amount of experience and hockey knowledge to HGC and has always had an eye for talent development in the past. I am looking forward to another great season in the Hoofdklasse with Wouter at the helm.'
