On the eleventh round of play in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men, Nijmegen recorded its first win of the season. In the basement cracker, Hurley was beaten 4-1 on Sunday. As a result, Nijmegen said goodbye to last place in the table.

NIJMEGEN - HURLEY 4-1

The first meeting between the two teams on the highest level not only produced the first win of the season for Nijmegen, but also their first premier league victory since 2 May 1976 when Tilburg was beaten 1-0. Since then, Nijmegen remained without a win on the highest level for 32 matches. The 4-1 win not only gave Nijmegen three points, but also moved coach Rob Haantjes' team away from last place in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. That spot is now in the hands of Hurley, which suffered its ninth defeat in a row. They are one point behind new number eleven Nijmegen.

AMSTERDAM - DEN BOSCH 2-1

The top match at Wagener Stadium was a triumph for the home team. It was Amsterdam's first win over Den Bosch since 2 September 2018 when the team was too strong 3-0. With his 17th goal of the season, Boris Burkhardt opened the scoring, which was doubled by Dayaan Cassiem with a nice backhand shot. Timo Boers brought the tension back into the match. He dragged in a penalty corner, his twelfth goal already. But Den Bosch, playing without the injured Thierry Brinkman, could not force an equaliser. As a result, coach Nanco Jansonius' team suffered its first defeat of the season. Moreover, Den Bosch had to cede second place on the league table to Amsterdam, which is already seven league games without defeat at home.

KLEIN ZWITSERLAND - ROTTERDAM 0-4

With a good feeling, Rotterdam can start preparing for the catch-up match against leaders Bloemendaal next Thursday at 't Kopje. In The Hague, the Rotterdammers won 4-0 against Klein Zwitserland. Thijs van Dam was on the scoresheet twice. The opening goal of the match was the international's fiftieth goal in the Tulp Hoofklasse. Olivier Hortensius and Jeroen Hertzberger, from a penalty stroke, also scored for Rotterdam. Coach Erik van Driel's team is now five league games unbeaten and rising to fifth place. They are three points behind number four Kampong with that catch-up game still to go. Klein Zwitserland saw its run of four unbeaten matches come to an end. Coach Robert Justus' team remains in eighth place.

SCHC - KAMPONG 1-2

The regional derby resulted in a hard-fought win for Kampong. Jip Janssen gave the Utrechters the lead after only three minutes. It was his thirteenth goal of the season for the penalty corner specialist. Just before the end of the first quarter, Terrance Pieters made it 0-2. Conor Empey reduced the gap for SCHC just before half-time, but the Bilthoven team failed to score the equaliser after the break. It thus gave Kampong its third victory in a row. SCHC suffered its second defeat and third in the last four league matches.
