Nijmegen win in cellar cracker, Amsterdam wins topper
On the eleventh playing day in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men, Nijmegen recorded its first win of the season. In the basement cracker, Hurley was defeated 4-1 on Sunday. As a result, Nijmegen said goodbye to last place and Hurley is the new straggler. In the topper, Amsterdam was 2-1 too strong for Den Bosch, which suffered its first defeat.
NIJMEGEN - HURLEY 4-1
The first meeting between the two teams on the highest level not only produced the first win of the season for Nijmegen, but also the first big league victory since May 2, 1976 when Tilburg was beaten 1-0. Since then, Nijmegen was deprived of a win on the highest level for 32 games. The 4-1 win not only gave Nijmegen three points, but also relieved coach Rob Haantjes' team of the last place in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. That is now in the hands of Hurley, which suffered its ninth defeat in a row. They are one point behind new number eleven Nijmegen.
AMSTERDAM - DEN BOSCH 2-1
The topper at Wagener Stadium turned out to be a triumph for the home team. It was Amsterdam's first win over Den Bosch since September 2, 2018 when the team was too strong 3-0. With his seventeenth goal of the season, Boris Burkhardt opened the scoring, which was doubled by Dayaan Cassiem with a beautiful backhand. Timo Boers brought the tension back into the match. He dragged in a penalty corner, his twelfth goal already. But Den Bosch, who started without the injured Thierry Brinkman, could not force an equalizer. As a result, coach Nanco Jansonius' team suffered its first defeat of the season. Moreover, Den Bosch had to give up the second place in the rankings to Amsterdam, which is already seven league games without defeat at home.
LITTLE SWITZERLAND - ROTTERDAM 0-4

Olivier Hortensius and Jeroen Hertzberger, from a penalty ball, also scored for Rotterdam. Coach Erik van Driel's team is now five league games unbeaten and rising to fifth place. The deficit on number four Kampong is three points with thus still that catch-up game to go. Klein Zwitserland saw an end to its run of four unbeaten duels. Coach Robert Justus' team remains in eighth place.
SCHC - KAMPONG 1-2
The regional derby resulted in a hard-fought victory for Kampong. Already after three minutes Jip Janssen gave the Utrechters the lead. For the penalty corner specialist it was his thirteenth goal of the season. Just before the end of the first quarter Terrance Pieters made it 0-2. Conor Empey reduced the gap for SCHC just before halftime, which failed to score the equalizer after the break. This gave Kampong its third victory in a row. SCHC suffered its second defeat and third in the last four league games.
