Amsterdam starts with win, recalled Pruyser scores
Reigning national champions Amsterdam started the Tulp Hoofdklasse on Saturday with a big win. Hurley was beaten 5-1 at Wagener Stadium.
Due to three injuries (Sam Steins Bisschop, Lee Morton and Lucas Middendorp) at Amsterdam, Mirco Pruyser made his comeback in Hoofdklasse Men 1. And this return to the Tulp Hoofdklasse, after he retired from top hockey in 2023, the now 36-year-old striker graced his return with a goal. With a hard forehand, he left Hurley goalkeeper Joren Romijn, who won the national title with Amsterdam last season, defenceless. Pruyser's goal was the second for the Amsterdammers, who had taken the lead in the fourth minute through Boris Burkhardt. He finished coolly after a pass from Robbert Kemperman.
In the closing quarter, David Huussen further boosted the score. After an impressive solo from his own half, he made it 3-0. Hurley managed to get something back via Hjalmar Voskuil from a penalty corner, but the defeat could not be averted. After youngster Robin van Ede made his big league debut in the Amsterdam shirt, the national champions further distanced themselves from Hurley. Thije Harm made it 4-1 and Burkhardt scored his second goal of the match from a penalty corner to make it 5-1.
