Fiona Morgenstern scores special goal for Amsterdam
On the top scorer list of the Tulp Hoofdklasse Women, Yibbi Jansen crept a little closer to Frédérique Matla thanks to an anniversary goal. Fiona Morgenstern (Amsterdam) also had cause for celebration.
Jansen, SCHC's penalty corner specialist, scored her seventeenth goal of the league in the top match against Den Bosch (1-1). That is only one less than Matla, who will be out of action for Den Bosch for the time being due to a foot injury. For Jansen, the equaliser had a special touch: it was her 150th goal in the Tulp Hoofdklasse, 110 of which as a SCHC player.
Fiftieth goal for Morgenstern
Almost ninety kilometres away, at the Wagener Stadium, Amsterdam attacker Fiona Morgenstern was also able to celebrate an anniversary, although it was one of smaller proportions. The striker scored twice in the home match against Rotterdam (8-2), taking her Hoofdklasse production to fifty goals: six for Oranje Zwart, 21 on behalf of Oranje-Rood and 23 for Amsterdam.
Fay van der Elst, Morgenstern's team-mate, ended a ten-match goal drought against Rotterdam. Her opening goal in the thirteenth minute marked her eighth goal of this league.
