Bloemendaal on course for record number of goals

With 49 goals from 11 games, Bloemendaal's men are the most scoring team in the Tulp Hoofdklasse after the first half of the competition. The Mussen are on course for a new club record.

Bloemendaal's current goal production amounts to an average of 4.45 goals per matches. That is a rare high moyenne, because only once in the club's history the average number of goals was even higher. That was in 2006-2007, when 115 goals could be cheered after 22 games. It amounts to an insane average of 5.23 goals per match.

In that season, Bloemendaal had a veritable goal-scoring machine in their ranks with German Christopher Zeller. The penalty corner specialist and striker ended the season with 47 (!) goals: twenty field goals, 26 penalty corners and one penalty stoke. This still makes Zeller the most prolific foreigner in the Hoofdklasse Men.

Towards a hundred

If Bloemendaal manage to keep up their goal production at the same pace after the winter break, they will be able to reach the magic mark of one hundred goals. Scoring at least a hundred goals in one season has only happened four times in the Hoofdklasse's 51-year history. Apart from Bloemendaal, only Klein Zwitserland (104 goals in 1982-1983 and 120 in 1980-1981) and Amsterdam (100 goals in 1996-1997) managed to do so.
