SCHC women gave their rival Den Bosch a thumping on Sunday afternoon during the sixteenth match round in the Hoofdklasse. Coach Robbert van de Peppel's team won 4-0 at the Oosterplas, a record defeat for the reigning national champion.

That result goes into the books for Den Bosch as an equalling of the biggest home defeat ever. Not in just the Tulp Hoofdklasse, but counting all official home games the Bosch women played at the highest level. Only 34 years ago - on 15 March 1992 to be precise - did Den Bosch step off the home field with a similar result: 0-4 against Amsterdam, during the fifteenth match round in the Hoofdklasse.

Den Bosch's big tease in the SCHC side was - as we suspected on Friday - Yibbi Jansen. The midfielder accounted for three of the four Bilthoven goals. Remarkably, her first two goals came from field play. That earned her a first: never before had the penalty corner specialist scored two field goals in one game.

Jansen's three-goal haul was her thirteenth hat-trick ever in the Hoofdklasse and her second in a row. Last week, she also shot sharp in the home match against Hurley that SCHC won convincingly (7-1).

Jansen now stands at eighteen goals, which means she now leads the league's top scorer list alone. Teammate Jip Dicke, who scored the other SCHC goal against Den Bosch, follows with 16 goals.

Jansen's hat-trick was good for a unicum: she is the first player ever in the Hoofdklasse to produce a hat-trick twice in an away match against Den Bosch. She previously managed to do so on 11 September 2022, when SCHC triumphed 1-3. Martine Ohr (HDM), Kim Lammers (Laren) and Claire Visser (Rotterdam) are the other players who once scored three times at the Oosterplas, but they only did so once.

Poor numbers Den Bosch

The 0-4 was already the third home defeat of the season for Den Bosch, which also lost to Amsterdam (1-2) and Bloemendaal (1-2) at the beginning of this term. The last time the Bosschenaren went down at least three times on their own pitch was in the 1996-1997 season (!).

Moreover, coach Marieke Dijkstra's team has already scored 14 goals this season at the Oosterplas, already one of the highest number of goals against ever. In only four seasons the number of goals against in home matches was higher. And the current season is not over yet.
