Spectacular 8-6 at Wagener unique in league history
Sun 21 Sep 15:00
Men 8 - 6

It was raining goals at the Wagener Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Amsterdam and Den Bosch combined to score 14, with 8-6 being the spectacular final score. Such a score had never been seen in the 52-year history of the Premier League.
The spectacular match produced not only a first, but also a milestone: it was the 100th unique result in league history.
The meeting between Amsterdam and Den Bosch was only the fourth big league match ever in which 14 goals were scored. The last time was 31 years ago, when Amsterdam won 12-2 on a visit to Push.
Fourteen goals or more in one Premier League game
- 8 March 1981: Klein Zwitserland - MOP 13-1
- 15 March 1981: Klein Zwitserland-Breda 15-0
- 17 September 1994: Push - Amsterdam 2-12
- 21 September 2025: Amsterdam - Den Bosch 8-6
Explosive league start
The new season of the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men is off to a goal-rich start anyway. After three rounds of play, the counter already stands at 98 goals, an average of 5.44 goals per game.
The Premier League last saw such a flood of goals in the first three rounds of play in the 2012-2013 season. Then, as many as 120 goals fell in the first 18 games. And if we look at all complete seasons, this pace is even historic. Only three times was the average higher than the current 5.44: in 1996-1997 (5.46), 2007-2008 (5.45) and 2008-2009 (5.92).
If this trend continues, the Hoofdklasse will be on its way to one of the most goal-rich seasons of all time.
